Welcome to APAWLO Pets

I’m April — a dog handler from the bush who grew up around livestock and working dogs.

These days I’m based in Brisbane, constantly pursuing self-education to understand everything I can about dogs and their behaviour.

From behavioural science, to practical training, to dog sports, there’s always another course, workshop, or book on the go.

Then there’s my girl Winnie. High-drive, loyal, and bloody ntelligent. The kind of dog who thrives with purpose, structure, and adventure. She’s my teammate, my training partner, and the inspiration behind every product we create.

Moving from the farm into a suburban lifestyle came with challenges — especially when raising a working breed in the city.

But it also revealed a huge gap: dog owners needed better tools, better education, and better ways to meet their dogs' needs.

Our Goal

To ensure every dog, including reactive dogs, have the opportunity to live an active, enriched, and happy life.

How did APAWLO Pets start?

Owning a high-drive, reactive dog meant that a simple walk down the street wasn’t easy or fulfilling. I found myself driving all over the city, searching for quiet parks, walking trails, and nature reserves with enough space to work through her reactivity and fulfil her needs.

That’s what inspired our very first product: our multifunctional car seat cover.

Our active lifestyle and daily adventures brought Winnie so much joy - but my poor car took the brunt of it.

Dirt, hair, sand, mud, drool - you name it, it was embedded in my seats!

I wanted to spend less time cleaning and more time training, exploring, and enjoying life with Winnie.

Working through those training challenges also ignited my passion to help other dogs live their lives to the absolute fullest, too.
